Cory 1940 Ford Update

Update from Cory…
Well the engine and trans are back in the car. I fired up the engine yesterday for the first time, and ran great for just out of the crate. I need to lean the idle mixture screws some, but I’ll worry about that once I get the car outside soon. That said, it’s pretty close to being a driver. I just need to hang the front sheet metal on, which will probably happen tomorrow.

I did have one hiccup though – a 10″ pressure plate interferes with a V8-60 trans case slightly. Specially, when the clutch fingers pivot and the counterweights swing toward the trans case. The weights barely rubbed, and created more of a terrible noise than anything. Today, I pulled the oil pan in the car, wrapped the lower end with plastic, then ground each counterweight until they had enough clearance. I was glad that I was able to do it that route, vs pulled the engine back out.

The video makes the car seem louder than it is, mainly due to echoing off the garage wall. Inside, the car isn’t too loud, which will be nice for the roadtrip to Austin in a few weeks.
